Octvia E. Butler's classic The Parable of the Sower, has been in the news a lot lately because it hit the New York Times bestseller list twenty-seven years after it was originally published. Given that it is set in a climate change-ravaged California in the early 2020s, and the fictional leader is a demagogue who promises to “make America great again,” (I’m not kidding; this was written in 1993), it’s no surprise that this prescient story is finally getting the popularity it deserves.
