5 Books Set in Scotland

As you read this, I’m on a trip through Scotland with my dear friend (and two time guest of the show) Lisa Marie Cabrelli. Lisa and her husband Mark are taking me and two of my kids through the cities, lochs, and highlands of Scotland, with plenty of stops at bookstores, distilleries, and castles. It’s an absolutely dreamy trip.

Since Scotland and Scottish writers are on my mind nonstop, I thought I’d gather up a few novels set there. I’m avoiding the ones you likely already know about [ahem, Outlander fans, I see you! I love you! But I want to steer you toward something new.]

One funny thing about looking up a list of books from a particular country is that you quickly find out what’s on that country’s mind. For Scotland, it appears to be murder, magic, and royalty.
